Hello my fellow book lovers! I’m excited to share with y’all another literary work that is being released today! It is a short story by my very good friend and excelling author, Amanda Tero.
About the book
” Twelve-year-old Keith is left in charge of the lighthouse and his two younger siblings while his
dad goes out in the storm to help a ship in distress.
As the long night passes with waves pounding against the lighthouse, fear threatens to engulf him.
Can Keith stay awake and keep the lights burning?
Will he worry away the night, or will he find comfort and peace in trusting God’s promises?”
When Amanda was a still in the first stages of this story a few months ago, she gave me the opportunity to read over the draft and give her my thoughts. At that point, I really enjoyed it and thought it portrayed some great truths. However, in reading it again this morning, those truths really came home to me and blessed me.
The parallels between this story and the storms we go through in our Christian life are spot on. One of the things Keith struggles with is staying awake to keep the lights burning. In the worst struggles of our Christian life, we may want to just give in and quit fighting, yet that is the time when we have be the most alert or the devil will gain a foothold and cause serious damage. Also, the main focus of “keeping the light burning” is quite applicable to us. We have to take extra care to make sure our light is shining for Christ during difficult times, and not allow it to dim or the glass to become smoky.
This is a wonderful story for all ages! Children will enjoy finding out how Keith, Eric and Kylie make it through the night, and teens and adults will be blessed and encouraged by the spiritual truths set forth.
Amanda is giving away a print copy of “Peace, Be Still” and a “Be Still” Faith Building Block
