Word Wednesday

Linking up with Amanda over at With A Joyful Noise.

“And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.” Exodus 6:7

“Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:23,24

I know at first glance these verses might not seem to have a whole lot of correlation, yet God brought them both to my attention at two different times today. The first one was in my morning devotions and the second was from the Bible study Β at church tonight.

The thing that stands out to me is that God wants to reveal Himself to us. Whether it be by showing Himself mighty in delivering us from unpleasant or difficult situations, or in manifesting His wonderful qualities to us, He desires for us to KNOW Him. I can’t even begin to comprehend or explain all this entails but it is a wonderful truth nonetheless. And when we begin to see God for Who He is, we will be able to see ourselves as we truly are, and that is what true humility is. Not necessarily thinking less of ourselves, but just seeing how Awesome (and I do mean that most literally, not just as the overused term it is today) God is and how utterly worthless we are. Yet, He still loved us!

Just a few thoughts that I hope will be a blessing to you today.
